Backpages new format

Backpages Men seeking Men has changed format. Now it it a phone number, pictures, little description, and a link to a social media page. The link is almost never functional and relevant. One great looking set of pictures has a link to a Dallas tourist bureau ad. Any thoughts?

This seems like the next step toward eliminating these ads altogether. I logged in to Backpage as though I was going to post an ad, to see what I could find out. There is no way to enter text. The social media field is required, so they have to enter something (hence all the dead links to nowhere). They say you can't post dick pix (although maybe it always said that? I don't know). But it's a real loss to those of us who don't live in a major city with lots of hiring options. Backpage used to be the best venue in placed like Raleigh, but it's almost useless at this point.

Backpage is obviously doing a CYA in the post-Rentboy era. They are making sure that, if the guys in the ads have anything to do with escorting, they'll be providing that info on another web site (e.g. Tumbler, FB, etc.) - or, on the telephone. I'm surprised they haven't just shut the "men seeking men" section down altogether. It sure is aggravating that the links are mostly non-functioning but not surprising given that other social media don't want to become a haven for this activity. I suspect that another reason that most of the links are fake is because most of the photos on Backpage are fake too.
