Man’s Country Chicago Closing?

A friend of my who frequents both Chicago’s Stramworks and Man’s Country told me last night that MC is closing. He didn’t get a definite answer as to why but that’s what he said. I have yet to make it to Steamworks but he took me to MC once. Thuggish type of crowd. Lots of HUGE cocks on parade but the venue didn’t looked clean to me but I haven’t been back since he took me there few years back.

Not surprised. Chuck Renslow, the owner, died recently. The surrounding neighborhood has perked up greatly, and so this real estate is worth plenty.

Chuck Renslow put the building up for sale last year, according to this article in the Windy City Times.

Went only there once, many years ago to see nekkid strippers. It was a window into the past. I tried to imagine what it was like in the 1970s and early 1980s, before AIDS. The decor made it easy to do that. I will mourn its passing, if only in concept.
