Perhaps they should have dressed him as Buckwheat instead, or Uncle Tom or perhaps Aunt Jemima. Are any of those offensive enough?

So you are fine with a native American child being dressed as Tonto? Or a Chinese child being dressed as a driver in a car accident? An Arab child dressed as the twin towers? Perhaps a German child dressed as Hitler. Or perhaps the little Southern girl dressed as a KKK member. Oh and all this on a TV show which has a reputation for insensitivity. By the way, you can be outraged by the costuming and about inequality, that is the nice thing about America, you can be outraged by any fucking thing you want and if you watch Fox and Friends, there is a good chance they have already triggered some mindless nonsense about it.

Here is why watermelon is considered racist

Well I only saw 1994 The Little Rascals movie when I was a child so I would be cool with that but obviously not black face.. Idk how you would dress as an Uncle Tom people have called Don Lemon one so I guess you can do that or dress like a slave but then people dress like that outside of Halloween. Dressing like a bottle of Aunt Jemima is cool my aunt went as a GOYA can once. A Native American dressing like what I assume is an Indian is okay. If any Asian person did that would be hysterical. German child dressed as Girl Hitler from Venture Brothers would be okay. Southern girl can dress like the a ghost.

Watermelen is not considered racist. The stereotype is that all blacks love eating watermelon. There is nothing racist about the kid wearing a watermelon costume. Yes you can be outraged about costumes and inequality but the fact that people are getting outraged about something this ridiculous means your missing actual inequalities.

The whitewashing of history is just one of many bigger pictures being missed in this new generation of virtue signaling and selective outrage that is still going on:
