Sports Forum - Australia and South America

Yes, I know, there is no sports forum, and those who want one basically want it to be about the NBA, NHL, NFL, and major league baseball.

 

Yesterday, Saturday, I heard two south American national anthems on national TV in Australia, Brazil and Argentina. The Australian women's soccer team played Brazil in western Sydney. The ground was sold out with 17k people attending. This evening, Australia played Argentina in the [southern hemisphere] rugby championship in Canberra.

 

The Matildas followed up their wins in a tournament in the US with a 2-1 win over Brazil (there is another friendly on Tuesday) and the Wallabies beat Argentina 45-20 in their first win in the championship (two losses to NZ and a draw with South Africa). A momentary respite from losses abroad!

When we first got cable lo these many years ago, one of the channels aired Australian rules football. I had no idea what the players were doing, but they looked good doing it.
