I'm resurrecting this topic to ask for some pointers about how to respond to the upsell. While I understand that spa masseurs are not well paid and usually directed by managers to upsell, it is off-putting to me to be relaxed during a massage and suffer through an upsell. I try to keep it simple and say "no, thank you" but then I worry that the masseur will get pissed off or think I'm cheap and act accordingly. On the positive, I try to stick with the same masseur and establish a rapport so the upsell doesn't occur. But that takes a few visits and in between is the upsell. Any tips about how to respond when this happens?

I find it very annoying - just when I am finally letting go of the week's stress, I get pulled into a bazaar type negotiation for more coin. Seriously?! My standard approach is to look him in the eye and say: "No thank you". I usually try to soften the blow with a smile and: "I add a nice tip for good service" and add a wink. ;) That usually works for me - may work for you too. Have not had any complaints and have been welcomed back by the masseur every time so far...

I find it so hard to say no to an upsell. I usually bring a few extra 20s with me when I goto to a massage just in case the massage was amazing and tip more. I find it different than upsells from other things. They have you in a very vulnerable spot of being naked and hard. The last guy I was with said the fee was one price that include Mutual Touch, release, and erotic massage. He was really good at the massage. Then closer to the end as he was rubbing his cock against my ass he whispers he’d fuck me for an extra 50 dollars. Which I would’ve had said no but I was in such a compromising position and my other head said yes. They definitely know what they were doing. I just wished he mentioned to me that he would e included that upfront. I would’ve said yes, but it kinda kills the mood when they got you in the palm of their hands.

I think most people hate negotiating once the massage has started. But hard to blame a masseur who knows he can wrangle some more bucks out of customers. Especially if he thinks he will never see you again. I would bet most are successful by doing it, even if we hate it. I know I’ve tipped more than I normally would when they’ve fleeced me. I just don’t repeat but still others go.

I once booked a session with a local guy who was nice looking, and had shirtless pictured in his ads. His price was average for the area.

Once naked and on the table (he was fully dressed) he offered to take hist shirt off for $20 more. Pants off were $30 more...and...he would remove his underwear for total of $100 more, but he emphasized NO TOUCHING.

I declined all, received a semi decent massage and left. No, I didn't return.

I raised this issue based on my own experiences before.

There is a masseur/escort, extraordinarily well reviewed on this site, who tried an upsell. When I mentioned this in a thread on him, I got a series of terribly in appropriate messages from him screeching at me to remove my posts. (I did not.)

It goes without saying that I have never hired him again.
