Depends. If oil or lotion is going to be used, a table is best You can rarely get a true massage on anything other than a massage table.

In my opinion, and experience, using the bed infers that the masseuse willing to include erotic components to the session....

I always prefer a massage table for a true massage experience. I hire masseurs for the massage first....any extras are secondary. Clients that specify that they would prefer the massage on a bed when requesting an outcall are usually the reverse. They are looking for the erotic part more than the massage.

Exactly! The same logic works when hiring a masseur. I always ask if they work on a table or a bed. Helps weed out the professionals from the rub and tug guys. I don't mind the extras but my main focus is on the massage. If I'm just horny I hire an escort. (Of course there are always exceptions.)

I also avoid guys who refer to themselves as a trained, certified, licensed, (or whatever term) "masseuse". (Here, there has yet to be an exception.)

In Texas it is against the law to use the word "massage" in any advertising unless you are a licensed massage therapist (LMT). Additionally, an LMT is required to have his license posted in his place of business. The State also provides a miniature copy of an LMT's license to carry in his/her billfold. If a client requests to see the license it must be produced to verify the therapist is actually licensed.

Getting back on topic, though, a massage table is the only way to go to receive a quality massage. I don't know one licensed therapist who practices his craft on a bed.

It depends. But first we need to define “massage”.

I think you’re really inferring “body rub” vice “massage”. In some states it is illegal to advertise using the terms masseur, masseuse, or massage therapist without being legally certified.

You can give a very nice “body rub” on a bed. Or on the floor. Or on a table.

You can even give a decent low to moderate pressure massage on a bed.

But you should not attempt a deep pressure massage, or sports massage, on a bed. They should only be conducted on a table or, maybe, the floor. But you must be properly trained to give deep pressure massage. You run a high risk of causing injury conducting deep pressure massage without proper training. Proper training means going to school and gaining certification. It is not cheap and it takes 100’s of hours of time.

In answer to your actual question. If I want deep tissue I go to a certified therapist at their location where they will be comfortable with their table and room set up. If I am looking for a relaxation massage (or body rub) I prefer my location so, when they finish, I can just go to sleep without having to drive back home.

P.S. Glad you’re asking lots of questions! Knowledge is power.

I can't speak for other states but it's a matter of public record in Texas. Ask for their license number and go online to verify. A licensed massage therapist is required to provide this information here.

It's been my experience that the vast majority of people on masseurfinder are not licensed. Words like various body modalities, trained in, body rubs, etc. are dead giveaways. The only way to verify if they are licensed is to ask and then verify.

Not to muddy the waters but not all LMTs give a good massage and some unlicensed guys are terrific at massage. Find someone you like and stick with him.

I've never understood how they do massage on a bed for when you are face down. I would find it uncomfortable. Now....if it's more than a massage.......

The best portable tables Ive seen are wider, have an adjustable face pillow, and an arm-shelf. Also adjustable height to give masseur best access. They're anything but light and easy to carry around. More portable in the sense of you can fold up and put away at home, not easily taken to outcalls.

I recently had a massage on my bed. His table looked like a cheap aluminum-frame folding picnic table covered in vinyl.

The negatives of bed: need to be creative with pillows for face down, or out of alignment. Even laying at corner/edge of bed, no immediate access to every side.

The positives. High bed, thick mattress, relatively short nude masseur put his groin at mattress-top and eye level throughout. Plus, he got on bed, straddled me for access at one point.

I recently had a hotel massage and the masseur showed up with a head rest that fits between the bed mattresses. Truly stellar invention and if I ever go back to having masseurs come to me at home, I'll invest in one.

Guest InthePines

I was sort of taken back the first masseur who showed up without a table, primarily because my animals were secured in the bedroom for the duration of the massage.

After that I made a point of asking prior to the massage, but I discovered I'm generally more comfortable on my bed, especially when compared to a portable.

My bed's also high and some masseurs are well adapted to the limitations of a bed and have learned to use it to their advantage.

Biggest downside is playing Hazel afterwards, stripping the bed and changing linen, but the best local masseur I use brings a bed cover.
