We're having a heatwave. And, while most 100+ events are just 2-3 days in this region, this one is predicted to last through the coming week.

Local public redwood hot tub place is advertising Cool Tubs. And guys on craigs are advertising to meet/hookup at cool tubs.

Im not a big fan of public hot tubs. Ive used them in SF. I figure the heat and excess chlorine help with some sanitary concerns.

I cant decide if sitting in a cool tub would be refreshing, or just kinda creepy, losing its allure after 3-4 minutes.

Has anyone ever used a public hot tub place, converted to cool tubs in summer?

Years ago I suffered from mysterious, recurring infections that began in individual hair follicles. The first thing my doctor asked me was, “Do you spend much time in hot tubs?” He said they are a breeding ground for skin infections. I had not spent any recent time in a hot tub, nor have I spent any time in one since. I also spend little time in the pool when at a hotel, just enough to cool off & then I’m out.

The heat in a hot tub wouldn’t be enough to kill bacteria, but would be enough to encourage growth & spreading. Cool tubs, well everyone would just be sitting & soaking in whatever floats off everyone else's bodies.

I imagine the chlorine level would have to be constantly monitored to insure safety.

Just my germaphobic 2 cents.
