Not You're speedier than me (am.)

Can't find the Economist article discussing this. Short story, both are correct. It can be 'I' based on an implied 'am'. But there is no grammatical difference between 'You're speedier than a snail' and 'You're speedier than me' in both of which cases the noun/pronoun is the object of the preposition 'than'.
