RE: Leading with the gut or the head?

I know but what you did say prompted me to pose the question. Thanks for clarifying your position. It seems to narrow the thrust of your comment.

Well, the NSA hook-up comes to mind as does casual dating and even courtship in some instances.

>A small minority distinguished from the majority by its

I suspect that being in the segment has implications for a difference in attitudes and self-image, with potentially positive and negative aspects, to name two possibilities. Another is some selection on income level. (Most that cannot afford to hire don't dwell on it I suspect.) With that goes some correlation in education level I would imagine. There may be others.

You suspect. You imagine. I asked what REASON you have. Don't see any so far.

Well, because I don't have hard statistics in hand I didn't want to be called for overstating my case... thus I suspect and imagine. I'm satisfied that my point was made.

RE: Whose right?

Given the results of the last election, it's a fight you seem to be losing. There were eleven different states in which the voters passed ballot measures against same-sex marriage by substantial majorities.

You might want to devote some thought to what it is you're fighting about. Your "right to marry"? Where does that "right" come from? Do you believe there is a supernatural being who has established a set of "rights" to which all humans are entitled? Absent the religious explanation, a "right" is simply an agreement among members of a community about the way they will treat each other in certain situations. When you think about "rights" that way, you realize that the only way to obtain a "right to marry" or any other "right" is to persuade most of the other members of your community to agree to it. How do you do that -- by fighting with them about it?
