An era passes,The Friendship Inn in Santa Monica has closed

The oldest gay bar still operating in LA county closed last night ;(

The Friendship Inn was a wonderful place with no attitude and an everyone is welcome here way of welcoming guest.

The Golden Bull(same owners)remains open-but the Friendship will leave a big gap in many west-siders Sunday afternoons.

This also means that The lovely Spotlight on Cahuenga and Selma is now the oldest gay bar in LA county(used to be just in Hollywood)

Any idea why the place closed?

The rent on the space went up $3,000 a month and the owners could not justify staying open with that nut to crack every month.

The own the building their other bar/restaurant(The Golden Bull)is located in.

Apparently not enuff nuts were cracking or cracks were nutted
