Season Two on DVD has just been announced, at last. You can get it for only $20.97 (that's a 30% off pre-sale price) at dvdplanet.com: http://www.dvdplanet.com/product_listing.asp?productid=55712&format=DVD

I'm back from a really fun vacation in the great outdoors (anyplace where there isn't concrete or internet or cell phones is very thrilling to this city boy) and the first thing I saw when I got back home (and back online) was the news about MTM and I had to pass it on. Order it if you want Fox to release the rest of the series!

Rick:

I've had an aversion to Mary Tyler Moore ever since I saw her utterly brilliant performance as Beth Jared in "Ordinary People". I don't seem to be able to separate her from the monster she played in that film.

I'm glad that her fans will be getting the DVD's of her show, however.

Interesting.I never thought of WeHo as being the Great outdoors, altho they do have some nice sidewalk cafes. :) Just Kidding.

Hope you both had a great time on the Left Coast.

P.S. I did see Rosemarie at a function a while ago and she did look rather scary.

I kind of felt the same way about Lucille Ball after "Stone Pillow," the TV-movie where she played a homless woman and we actually had to see Lucy squatting in some bushes with a roll of toilet paper in her hand. But I got over it! :p

Ha ha...we actually left WeHo early and spent time hiking and camping before we headed to SF. I felt so...waspy and robust. :p

I love Rose Marie. I'm thinking of putting a black bow in my chest hair in her honor...

Speaking of Lucy, I bought the "Here's Lucy" DVD set a week ago. I remember the series as being awful. It is actually much better than

I expected, with great extra including commentary from Lucie Arnez and Desi, Jr. who were on the show. There are also priceless candid pre-taping scenes with Lucy bossing everyone around, including Richard Burton. Lucie and Desi are not particularly talented, but Lucy still gave them plenty of singing and dancing scenes. Despite her pushy persona off camera, Lucy clearly loved the two kids. Remember these were the years in which very cute Desi was constantly in the tabloids, being engaged to Patty Duke, being engaged to Liza Minnelli and having plenty of affairs with many starlet from about the age of 15 (took after his dad, I guess). Most of the women stayed in Lucy's guest house at her Beverly Hills home. "Here's Lucy" gives you plenty of opportunity to check out Desi, Jr.'s charms.
