Joel. You being a W.Allen Fan, Could you explain the Movie "Zelig"..It was on Cable in NYC..But I lost interest within 10 mins.I don't think, he any longer has his Loyal Following, from the 70's & 80's. Could be Marrying his Daughter, has Tarnished his so called Genius! :+ :+ :+

First of all, I think "Zelig" is a great movie that has only improved with age. At the time, it was acclaimed for its special effects, that is putting Allen as Leonard "the Lizard" Zelig into photographs and archival footage. It's also a pretty funny movie, spoofing the docudrama with talking heads form that was epitomzied by "Reds."

As you might have guessed, I am big fan of his movies, though I find his moral terpitude somewhat neglible. Long after the masses deserted him, a friend and I would see his movies opening weekend together. However, with Curse of the Jade Scorpion, my friend dropped out, but I hung tough and saw Hollywood Ending the following year. And then there were none.

I thought that his last movie, "Anything Else" with Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci, was just pathetic. The dialogue sounded as if it was lifted from his earlier better works. It also doesn't help that he seems to want his leading men to play him. (Worst example of this was poor Kenneth Branaugh in Celebrity.)

Hate to say it, but I would sooner see "Guess Who" over M&M.

My favorite Woody Allen movie is "HANNAH AND HER SISTERS". I thought it conveyed a genuine warmth and feeling of family togetherness. I also remember some of the actors as being truly superb---especially Michael Caine, Lloyd Nolan, Mia Farrow & Diana Weist. For anyone who has never seen this film, I would definitely recommend that you try to do so.
