Is it not the law in San Francisco that single use plastic straws are banned, but in lieu of that multiple use clock sucking is allowed in compensation? Was curious about than... perhaps someone from the Bay Area can enlighten us.

It's a major shift and there's going to be an overlap of the California law (AB-1884) and the San Francisco law ordinance that takes effect on July 1, 2019. Rather than copy and paste here which would add a lot of text, here are some URLs with lots of info:
