here! TV - Gay Channel

Hey folks,

 

I'm looking forward to my first foray into satellite television soon (DirecTV), and I was wondering about a premium channel they offer.

 

It's called here! TV, and it's a gay channel. Not hardcore or anything, but it looks like gay-oriented programming and movies. It's $5.99 for a block or $9.99 for a month of it.

 

I'm just wondering for those of you who've seen some of it, is it worth the price of admission?

 

(I did a search, and there was a thread from quite a while back about this, and it looks promising, but I'm trying to get some current opinions - thanks!)

I find myself renting a few flicks from Here TV. Most recently, I rented "Last Call at Mauds," a story chronicling the famous lesbian bar. Often, the movies shown are quite entertaining. Don't commit to a monthly package though. They often show the same movies over and over.

 

More importantly, GET THE DIRECTV DVR. I can't imagine living without it again.

Yup - gonna get a DVR (be my first too). I may try a month with here! just to see how the channel is, then switch to an as-wanted basis if it's too repetitive - thanks for the heads up. Appreciate any other comments as well. =o)

I can't say enough about the DVR. The season pass manager is great. You go away for a week and return to all of your favorite shows. The reception on Directv is awesome as well. Never had a problem with weather, etc.

Great to hear! I'm sure I'll never want to go back after I get used to a DVR. =o) And I'm glad to hear weather isn't a big problem - since I'm in the NorthEast, that was a concern I had.

When I lived in Colorado, a massive snowstorm covered the dish. That was the only problem that I have experienced in 4 years. Enjoy.

I'm on Dish Network. Anyone know if they offer a gay orientated channel?

Actually, I noticed on hereTV's site that they offer it on both DirecTV AND Dish. However, I think on Dish, it's on a pay-per-view basis only, and on DirecTV you can get it pay-per-view or on a monthly basis. Though I think Dish's pay-per-view is slightly cheaper. I have Dishnetwork.They offer movies from HereTv on a pay per view basis.Its Channel 537.Unfortunately they repeat the same 4 films over and over for a month.Supposedly Dish will offer HereTv as a monthly subcription channel in a few months so you will be able to view all their programming.Check out their website heretv.com.

I remember the other thread, and wanted to add that I have become a monthly subscriber for the $9.99 on Direct TV. Yes there are some things rerun many times during each month, but overall, the cost has been well worth it, and there is new content added each month.

Great to know. I'll probably try it. PPV on DirecTV is $5.99, and you can get a whole month for $9.99, so if I want to watch more than like...two things per month on there, it'd be worth it.

I got the Here Tv channel a few months ago and cancelled it after two weeks. It was only on for a certain amount of hours a day and the movies where a lot of repeats and also a lot of Lesbian movies.I would not recommend it.
