saw it a few weeks back... a nice treatment of the piece, scaled well for this intimate space - but without a full staging i did realize that the show itself is a bit... hmmm.... weak in book (excellent/awesome score notwithstanding!)

Agree. Melissa Errico was especially good in Encores' "One Touch of Venus." over a decade ago. In a talk-back after the Saturday matinee, Paula Laurence, who was in the 1943 original production starring Mary Martin and directed by Elia Kazan, had lavish praise for Ms. Errico all well deserved.
