Sir,

Your humor and sense of purpose are escaping me today. I don't believe that your intentions are negative, but geez.

Maybe it's just me??? Quite posible. But after your posting earlier, I lost a little.

This being said, I am not always the popular one here. Just ask Noviceny :-)

This particular post by realdeal doesn't seem to me to be too out of place. When my Mother died, it wound up, timing wise, that she was buried on an April Fool's Day. People thought that I might be upset by that, but it actually cheered me. I remembered the old Irish blessing "May you be in Heaven a half hour before the devil realizes that you're dead." And I pictured her in my mind's eye giving a very ladylike thumb to the nose to the devil. And aren't there some cultures throughout the world where mourners wear white, not black, and try to be as happy as they can, knowing that this is a new beginning of their loved one's time in Heaven, and that any crying they might do is actually more for themselves at having to do without such a great man?

Daddy, I couldn't agree with you more. People mourn and grieve and remember using mechanisms which are comfortable for them, and sometimes that includes humor and funny recollections. Ultimately, they are ALL part of the healing process.

I naturally cried when my mother passed recently, but I can't recall when I laughed so much, listening to the stories that people told and rejoicing in the fond memories.

My mother wasn't a saint, by any means; and I'll leave it that. But she touched a lot of people's lives and some of them employed humor to express their loss. I feel that HooBoy is in the same boat. Especially for someone we might not have met personally, but knew through electronic communications. His perilous antics WILL STILL give me much to laugh about.

I suppose right now my fervent wish is that heaven is big enough to prevent my mom and HooBoy from comparing notes.

My heart couldn't take it if they decided to gang up on me.

In the meantime, lets just respect EVERYONE's right to post as they feel and express their thoughts. Seems to me all of the postings thus far have been supportive and respectful.

Warmly,
