I could never understand how they could compete with gyms like 24, Golds, crunch, la fitness where you have one in practically in every neighborhood.

DBG specifically positioned itself as a higher end, stylish, almost clubby place - where seeing and being seen was an important art of the experience. I remember working out there could be a challenge because so many guys were using the equipment as props for selfies and what not!

Yeah, I love that they blame it on "competitive market conditions". Like that would cause it to have to lock up in the middle of the night with no notice, surely screwing over anyone who paid for their membership in advance. Speaks to their customer service.
