Black entertainers as diverse as Bill Cosby and Jamie Fox owe a lot to Ossie.

 

He opened a lot of doors because he was so frigging good nobody could say no.

And I wish to add my own condolences to Ruby and their family. What always struck me about the entire family was that, in spite of their obvious greatness, they remained unaffected by their status - approachable and always so kind!

 

I saw a clip of one of his granddaughters speaking about him just after his death on one of the networks - and bounced to Europe where I was last week. So you can see their fame went far beyond our own country.
