For what its worth, just had some back and forth with him about his travel dates and he definitely comes across as a VERY chill guy! Unfortunately our paths won't cross, but if they did I'd scheduling something for sure!!

Same with me, super cool in our conversations but sadly due to his travel Visa situation he won't be in my country until 2017. Enjoyed our brief talks, I may do the trip to NYC just to book him.

About to lock in a meet-up, just wanted to check if there was any more feedback from the crowd. Thanks!

Let us know how it goes.

I had originally posted a comment, but removed it because I felt I was being completely unfair. But, I want to say something so that if it happens to anyone else, I won't feel guilty for being silent.

What definitely happened, he cancelled our appointment. If fairness to him, he do so before our appointment. However, it was after I had messaged him to confirm, not the other way around.

The issue comes with the excuse he gave me. He said he was sick and had a bad case of food poisoning. His social media told a very different story. I don't believe he was sick at all, but that he flakes out.

I can be wrong, but I wanted to say something in case I'm not.

It's good that you hedge your conclusions here because there are numerous possible explanations for Sarugbymuscle cancelling your scheduled appointment. For example, a quick perusal of your posts on the forum show a decided tendency toward the negative (although there's plenty of neutral comments, as well). Perhaps some aspect of the negativity came across in your communication with him, or he read your posts, or someone whose read them told him, etc. His claiming an illness may well have been an attempt to be polite, rather than say outright that he was uncomfortable meeting you.

As I say, that is just one possible reason for the cancellation. The potential for an innocent explanation, and one that doesn't transfer to others interested in hiring him, makes your experience, in my view, not terribly useful. I'm much more interested in what's been said by those who've actually met him.

I seriously doubt it, as my rentmen account is in no way link to this one. And our conversation was a basically strict setup talk.

I won't deny that I've been on the more negative side here. I admitted to it in other trends, but that's because I try to be more grounded. I try my best not to go out of line, but I'll definitely walk it.

Way to go! I really enjoyed reading your reply, CNF. I have to admit that I expected some snipe-y retort, but once again, I was shown that ALL prejudices are unwarranted.

I'm feeling philosophical so I can truthfully say that I've come to the point where if a hire doesn't work out I don't hold either party at fault, no matter how guilty one might appear and how innocent the other might seem---it was simply the right thing to happen. If I am to meet someone it will happen, even if it takes a few tries. If it's not in my (our) best interest to meet a hire doesn't happen and it looks like one or the other party did something wrong, but what really happened was the right thing, no matter what it looks like. I've been rewarded with so many instances of hindsight that have shown me that I was spared an unwanted experience when things didn't hook up the way I thought they should. The thing I love about getting older is that I started seeing things another way so I don't look to emphasize fault because focusing on the fault just increases it and you start seeing it everywhere, in myself included. It's called unhappiness and it's simply a matter of a choice as to whether I'm looking to be pleased or displeased, thus making me a victim of everything rather than the truth, which is that I am the only one who has control of how I feel about what I experience, so no one but myself is responsible for how I feel, thus letting others off the hook for doing what we've judged them to have "done" to us.
