I really enjoyed this movie. It has been generally panned by the critics and is not doing well at the box office. If you were thinking about seeing it I would go soon. Kevin Spacey wrote, directed and starred.

One stupid review I read said the movie was not up to Chicago standards. Maybe so, but that hardly makes it a bad movie. I liked the musical numbers and thought the narritive twist was creative.

I totally agree - I was very impressed by this flick, and especially considering that Kevin Spacey wore so many 'hats' on the project. And he can sing, too! As a biography, I honestly think I liked this film better than The Aviator. (Haven't seen 'Ray'.) The girl who played Sandra Dee was perfect!

I don't understand why they're giving this such a low profile release, except that it is Lions Gate Films, which is a low-brow, dip-shit company (Farenheit 911 notwithstanding.)

I give the film a C.

C for cheesey, campy, and creepy.

A 42 year old closeted gay man seducing a 24 year old cutie made me shudder. Then their relationship turned into George and Martha from

"Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolf?".

Campy choreography looked like a Dr. Pepper commercial.

An unforgivable performance by Caroline Aaron as his sister/mother. She should sue him for character defamation.

This will be a cult film favorite for years!!!!!!:9 :9 :9 :9

I was waiting for the 'closeted gay man' backlash. So therefore, he can't act, huh? Kevin Spacey isn't supposed to earn a living because he doesn't choose to come out publicly. Yadda yadda yadda

What a horrible movie. Somehow I managed to sit through the entire

thing.

I wouldn't even call that movement stuff choreography.

It's a no brainer that this movie got smeared by critics and has done terribly at the box office.

Kevin Spacey was on Larry King a few weeks ago promoting "Beyond the Sea" with Darin's son Dodd. Dodd is a hoter, sexier version of his dad. He wrote an out of print, but highly sought after book (on e-bay) about his mom (Sandra Dee) and dad, called "Dream Lover."

I have not seen the film, but the clips shown on the King show did not make me want to see it, especially with the more age appropriate, Dodd sitting right next to Spacey. Sadly, this film seems like nothing more than a loving "vanity" project. The clips show a Darin on speed, Spacey seemed so wired. I remember Darin and he did not come across like that at all on television.

I saw Kevin Spacey doing Bobby Darin in LA last month and he had the whole thing going -17 piece band, 2 back up singers and Peter Cincotti playing piano for a couple of songs.

I had seen BD at the Coconut Grove and Spacey did a pretty good job with the stylings, mannerisms, gestures etc but his voice was a little weak. I was checking for Darin music on Amazon and they had some good stuff plus this movie`s soundtrack. It was kinda fun switching sound bytes of Daren and Spacey singing the same songs.

I haven`t seen the movie yet but Bobby Darin was always a favorite of mine. I`m sure it will be on a plane soon plus DVD.

I am also hooked on Peter Cincotti. Great jazz stylings in the vein of Harry Connick Jr and he`s only 21. Nice eye candy too. :9

I generally enjoyed the movie, too, especially the music. But the one thing I hated was the way they played fast and loose with the facts, such as implying that Bobby and Sandra were still together when he died, despite the fact they'd been divorced for many years and he had remarried. Wife #2 wasn't even mentioned.

I wanted to like the movie and I'm usually pretty forgiving. Like Kevin Spacey in other roles. Hated this movie. Wooden, stilted diaglogue. Outrageously pretentious "staging" with old Bobby talking to young Bobby and winks at the camera. I know Spacey loves Bobby Darrin and wanted a tribute, but someone needed to step in a tone down the cheesiness of it. Cliche after cliche-- hated it.

IMHO...I read it is up for a "Golden Globe", which I think adds to the Question of the Credibility of the "Golden Globes" other than just another Marketing Move...Which is definitely brought into question in the Documentary on the "GG'S" :+ :+ :+
