My thoughts go out to all those affected by Monster Storm Matthew. I tried to rebook a airline ticket, over 1 hour wait with Delta. This is nothing compared to how others will be inconvenienced.

I live in Ft.Lauderdale and we just got our first rain band. People are taking it seriously, but when the first rain comes thru, people start moving in double time. I just came from getting gas. Big lines and pretty much only regular available.

Grocery stores are packed and shelves empty. Schools closed early and officials are asking company's to let employees go home early. I just took a ride along the beach. It's a ghost town. No chairs, no people, no traffic. They just ordered all ships out of the harbor. The airport control towers will close when winds hit 55mph sustained winds.

Local TV stations are now wall to wall coverage.

 

So rain bands starting today, winds picking up slowly overnight, tomorrow afternoon heavier winds and the worst from midnight to 6am tomorrow night. Why do the worst of these storms happen overnight?
