Late Night With Conan O Brien has been a successful late night talk show for the past twelve years. No one at NBC thought Conan could step up to the plate, consider that following in the footsteps of David Letterman was a tough act to follow. Conan has held his ground, made the show his own and has been tremendously successful. He has watched his competition with the likes of Tom Snyder and Craig Kilborn falter and wither away as late night hosts. In five years from now, he will replace Jay Leno as the new host of the " Tonight Show ". That says a lot for Conan. The credit goes around to the writers, producers, booking staff and off course the PR machine of NBC. Part of the credit also goes to the on air characters that the writers have created over the years. The Masturbating Bear and more importantly a pooch in the form of a puppet generally known as " Triumph The Insult Comic Dog ".

I find this unique due to the fact that Triumph was introduced to audiences in 1997. This raucous, raunchy, cigar smoking, bow tie wearing, poodle-humping pooch has made dog meat of everything. For me he's a breath of fresh air for late night television. This puppet pooch has even earned the respect from shock jock Howard Stern. Not bad at all. In someways for a short period of time, Triumph got bigger than the organisation that created him. I must admit I absolutely love watching this character tear to shreds various celebrities. Triumph is not on the late night show all the time. They bring him out every once in a while to keep the material fresh as can be. By chance if I'm watching Conan O'Brien and Triumph happens to appear on screen. It sort of becomes like hook, line and sinker. I know I'll definitely watch the segment with Triumph, no doubt about it.

I was wondering if any of you guys out there ever watch or have heard of this character known as " Triumph The Insult Comic Dog ". Let your opinions be heard.

Triumph has a DVD out now ("The Best of...") I love puppets, but never heard of Triumph until this interview aired last year (I'm usually asleep dreaming of thongs and butts when Conan is on.) I look forward to seeing it.

Also, listen 36:00 into this Bill O'Reilly interview to the end (about 4 minutes total).

Then listen to the Triumph interview. about 7:00 into the Triumph interview, he makes a hilarious reference to the O'Reilly interview that cracked me up.

Happy New Year!

In addition to "the Best Of Triumph" DVD which consiists of the better Conan skits, there is a Triumph audio CD for sale which is packaged with another DVD - all great 'stand-up' type stuff with hilarious material. Lots of good song parodies (for me to poop on).

His interview with the STAR WARS nerds waiting in line for the movie premeire is universally considered a classic!

Yeah, Jay Leno sucks...I really cant stand listening to him...guess thats why I dont really watch him...he seems to be pandering for a fucken laugh.

Conan just says his shit and if no one laughs he just says something self depracating or says that the audience is stupid

I want that dog for my pet !!!! I would bring him everywhere with me...he would be great to bring to the Gaiety !!! Can you imagine that shit ?!?!

Believe it or not, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, way back in the beginning of his career (early 80's), Jay Leno used to be cool! And funny! Cutting edge! One of the best guests on David Letterman's Show when HE was still on fire! I'm just old enough to vaguely remember that. What happened Jay?????

Conan would be perfect to take over from Jay Leno...AS IS! Please, network dudes, don't ruin him like you did poor Leno!

I was lucky enough to attend a 3 hour show featuring Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at last July's Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. Three hours was a bit too long, but mostly I was rolling in the aisles. This was a rare event, as Triumph does not usually do live shows or concerts. There were many guest appearances includig Horatio Sanz. I haven't picked up the Triumph DVD yet, put I plan on it.
