I got my reservations for viewing the 2017 eclipse a couple of days ago, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Corvallis, Oregon (one of the more guaranteed sunnier places in the path). As a warning to you guys, there this is the ONLY hotel that still has rooms available in Corvallis for the eclipse, and most cities in Orgeon are sold out. There are still some rooms available in Nashville TN and Charelston SC. If you guys would like to travel to see the eclipse, I suggest you make your hotel reservations NOW.

thanks for the post @Unicorn ...this is going to be a huge event next year....as Uni suggests, I've heard eastern Oregon has the greatest chance of sunny weather in the country in the path of totality....

I got one in Gering, NE a couple of months ago; it was the only one left anywhere near Alliance*, one of the recommended viewing areas. Nearest big airport is DEN. United opened up bookings from my hometown to DEN for August 20-22 a few days ago, at which time the cheapest RT fares were $1500. They came down yesterday to a more reasonable $400, which I grabbed.

*I called a couple of B&B's near Alliance. They said they had been fully booked for the eclipse date since 2014.
