How to post links to Rentboy profiles?

I'd like to post a link to an escort's Rentboy profile. I obviously want to post the URL for his profile, and not the general Rentboy URL. Can someone more tech savvy than me help? :D

Steven Draker posted the instructions on how to do this. You might want to send him a quick message. I cannot remember the thread he did this in but I believe it was in the Deli about 4 weeks ago if you want to search.

Well 5 years ago, ...... lol jk.

 

Yeah--here's how:

 

1. with your mouse, right click on the image you want in the general section and a pull down menu reveals several choices, but you want "Open Link in New Window" which you click.

2. A new widow opens with only the image or section you wanted.

3. Look up at the menu bar and on Internet Explorer there is a section that says "address" with the specific link--that's the address you want to insert.

4. You can highlight that address (double clicking on it or command L)

5. Cut and paste the link address

and viola` !

 

Now the above was done with a Mac but using a PC bluetooth mouse, so should be pretty similar }(

What choices do you get?

 

Are you using a PC or Mac?

 

If Mac, then the wireless mouse has a right click on it that gives those choices or if just single click mouse, then click the mouse and at the same time push "control" key and will get same choices.

 

If PC, I assumed (without knowing) you got the same choices, so let me know and maybe can figure out what to do next.

 

I also assumed Internet Explorer, so let me know your browser also--I'm surprised they're different.

If you're using a Mac with a single click mouse, you have to click the mouse and the control key and EXACTLY the same time to get the menu choices. At least on my computer, if it's not exactly at the same time, no window opens with options. Don't give up...I learned something today.

I open the escort's Rentboy profile, and right click on the page (not the pic, as that is protected), and the menu I get is:

Forward (not highlighted)

You cannot set the link to display a rentboy pic here anymore, at least using a pc. I tired after my previous post and rentboy has gone to copyright protection on the pic. Therefore, you cannot right click on the pic and that is what you need to be able to do.

Yes, but clearly there is a way to copy and paste a link to a specific Rentboy escort on here -- it's done all the time. Steven Draker just proved it. Help!!

Don't OPEN the ad. You want to get a link to it.

 

Do the right-click thingie BEFORE you open the ad. That lets you open it in a new window, as instructed, which will display the URL for posting.

I just went and looked. They've disabled right-clicking entirely.

 

That's a clue. They don't WANT you linking directly to their inside pages.

Oh weird. I go directly to the ad when I click the link, but you're telling me others don't? Well, so much for my simplistic attempt at a solution. Guess that's why I'm an escort and no longer in IT. :)

OK. Here you go.

 

You're talking about two different things:

- posting a link to display a Rentboy pic (Four Aces mentioned that the right click was recently disabled)

- posting a link to a Rentboy profile (Kevin Slater found his way to post a link)

 

To post a link that works properly for everybody you have to work on it a little bit.

Take the link as Kevin posted it here:

 

http://www.rentboy.com/location/getrb.asp?rentboy=3889&Location=71&speciality=Rentboy&keywords=&modifiedDT=1/1/2003&page=7

 

and remove/cut the end : everything appearing after &Location=71

 

The result is

 

http://www.rentboy.com/location/getrb.asp?rentboy=3889&Location=71

 

Now click on that link ... ET VOILA ... c'est magique :+ ;-)

Seriously, thanks to everyone who tried to find the right formula. :D

 

Actually, I found Steven's directions to be possibly missing a step, or maybe it's just my browsers (Internet Explorer and AOL, which purports to use IE).

 

Unlike Kevin's experience, when I open a Rentboy page, the URL in my browser doesn't show that specific page. It only shows the general Rentboy URL. x(

 

However, if I right click on the specific page, and select "Properties", the entire URL is there, complete with all the other garbage Steven told us to get rid of. You can copy that URL and then delete the "garbage" before you paste the link.

 

At least, I hope that's how it works. We'll see in a bit when I try to post 3 links in another thread in The Deli. }(
