I just saw something great on the news tonight and wonder what took so long for this to come about. The great thing is cell phone lots at a few airports around the contry including here in Seattle. Instead of driving around in circles one can just go to the cell phone lot for 30 minutes for free and wait for the person who they are picking up to give them a ring and head to the airport from the lot. This idea is a long awated sigh of relief. I hope that those of you who have this option use it and enjoy the new perk.

Hugs,

Greg

It's a great idea! But make no mistake, "necessity is the mother of invention". The airport isn't concerned about saving us money on parking. They are just in dire need of parking space! This concept will allow many parking spaces to remain available for those who need to go into the airport while saving others money and the inconvenience of having to go in when they really didn't need to. Sounds like a win/win situation for all. SeaTac is a huge airport! I'm sure this is providing relief from very congested parking at the busiest arrival/departure times.

Thanks for sharing.

They just opened one of these at LAX.

They're touting it as a security feature since it will cut down on the number of people milling around the terminal, but all it really does is give them a staging area.

I'll continue to call a shuttle service when I need to pick someone up at the airport. :p

The City of Phila. just opened one of the lots two months ago. The only problem is no one knows where the lot is, PenDot (Penna. Dept. of Transportion) won't let the city put signs to the lot on Interstate 95 or State Route 291. These are about the only main roads heading into PHL. Our Govt. at work :-( So people keep parking on the shoulder of I95 and gettin $125.00 tickets from the cops.

When in doubt I whip it out :+

A friend of mine tried this at Ft Lauderdale. He pulled over to the side of the approach road and waited for the call. He didn't see the little sign saying "No Standing," and got fined $75.00. x(
