OK, so I was at the gym tonight and I counted not one, not two, but three faux-hawks plus a full mohawk -- and the gym wasn't even very crowded. I don't get it. I mean, I get mohawks and faux-hawks; I had one myself 2 years ago (I got it after I'd made out with a sexy hawk'd boy in Montreal...and although I was worried what they'd think, surprisingly, my most conservative clients really liked it). Now, I get the whole "retro" thing. But isn't it just a bit too soon to be reliving the good ol' days of...2002? :o :p

Since when was 2002 the height of the mohawk haircut? Wasn't it very popular way back in the ancient days of punkdom in the late 70's and early 80's and even as far back as the 50's? Besides, mo, faux, or VA, hawks are always in style! :) NEXT! :7

The little Faux Hawk has been in style for a long time.... at least in Europe. Those cutie boys across the pond have been sporting them for years. Here is one of the more famous footballers, David Beckham, sportin' his:

David Beckham, bless his faux-hawk soul, does not have a mohawk in these photos. He merely has elaborately sculpted hair.

If the Mohawk tribe ever sported Mohawks, it probably meant that they shaved the sides of their heads, and sported a crest made stiff with animal fat. In the very early eighties I shaved the sides of my head and sported a crest made stiff with Knox's Unflavored Gelatin.

Sorry boys, but there is no other way to achieve a "Mohawk", other than to shave the sides of your head and resort to animal by-products to acieve a stiffie "Mohawk". Mousse, no matter how many pounds one may use, just won't do the trick.
