Today's need for donated blood was quickly met, but more will be needed in the next few days. However, the ban on donations from men who've had sex with men in the last 12 months and, effectively, on trans women and men eliminates many in the LGBTQ+ community. (While the policy is only clearcut as applied to trans women, in effect all trans individuals are treated as if they are men who have sex with men.)

 

It's unclear to me how the policy applies to women, bisexual or straight, who have sex with MSM, leaving bisexual women who don't have sex with MSM, lesbians, and asexuals as the only LGBTQ+ groups clearly eligible to donate.

 

This is particularly ironic because the flyer for last night's entertainment featured black and Latina trans women. (Source)

It is immensely diverting when a small slip of this sort, or an accidental double entendre, can bring a moment of levity in an otherwise serious situation. I was reminded of this classic from another time:
