Thank you to the MC

This past week I finished something that I had been working toward for the last, oh, nearly 6 years. It required that I do something that I've never considered a strong suit of mine which is turning in several writing samples. Some who have helped me with this have had my gratitude in a more private manner in the last couple weeks but I'd also like to publicly thank those who have helped me with this on the message center.

 

For the last 2-3 years or so I've had the very great opportunity to tune my skills, such as they are, on this MC. I'd like to take this time to thank Hooboy, Deej, Daddy and the rest of the various competent helpers running and maintaining this MC. It's liberal rules regarding subject matter gave me the chance to test different styles, opinions, angles and lengths of thought in a way that I could not have done otherwise. There are other message centers out there but none that I felt comfortable delving into. The breadth of skill, opinion, ages, background, and disposition here can't be beat.

 

To everyone here who has wished me well and offered advice I think you all. I'd also like to especially thank Gentle Guy, Trixie and TJ who took their own time out to help me frame and edit the thoughts I wanted to put out there with this recent project. Also in terms of honing my skills here Woodlawn especially and Doug69 to a lesser extent have been invaluable in helping me to realize how precision, clarity and civility can more easily be brought to my writing. Although I often disagree with either one of them I feel that I can read any post they've ever written and know EXACTLY what they were trying to say, a quality which I very much admire. I hope to have more exchanges with both in the future.

 

Less specifically, everyone here who has ever had an exchange with me or written something that I've read here has helped in some way or another. Certain styles, while well suited to the author are clearly not right for my voice also abound here and having them as examples to carefully avoid for my purposes are no less valuable and appreciated. While I didn't ONLY take advice and example from this MC I don't think I would have ended up with the finished result so pleasing to me without it.

 

So thank you again.. to all of you. (please excuse the sappy acceptance speechish sounding tone .. .no way to avoid it I believe)
