Okay, twinkers, here's a movie for you. Tarnation is essentially a home movie by Jonathan Couette, an androgynous and extremely handsome young man who proves that narcissism knows no bounds when one has a video camera. I saw the movie on a whim since its reviews had intrigued me. I almost walked out until the moment when he did his first cinematic monologue, but, after that, I was hooked, although I often felt like I might be on an acid trip. This movie is mind-fucking and crazy at the same time. I wonder what others thought of it, and, I wonder if I would have stayed had not the subject been so damn cute.

saw "tarnation" a couple weeks ago in nyc. The kid--well, he's 30 now--has been filming himself and his family most of his life, and tells a heartbreaking story.

The most tragic figure is his mother, who was subjected to shock treatments as a child, and suffered obvious brain damage as a result. His grandparents are completely nuts in my book, but I suppose there are places out there where they're considered the normal ones.

It's a fascinating story lovingly transformed into a work of art. I've never seen anything like it and I highly recommend it.
