Rufus Wainwright? Can he handle it? Who is he? Will he use the same arrangements? The same costume?

He already did. Nobody can do it like Judy, but it wasn't bad.

Ten years after Rufus Wainwright took over New York City’s Carnegie Hall to restage Judy Garland’s famous April 23, 1961 concert at the same venue, he’ll do it all over again — twice.

Definitely a gay old time! :)

I saw Judy Garland at Boston Garden 6 months after the Carnegie Hall concert. I believe there are still tickets left for Rufus. It would be fun to compare the two. My biggest memory from Judy's Boston concert in October 1961 was "Come Rain or Come Shine." I do not have Boston (sorry), but Carnegie Hall was very similar.

And yes, relating to the reference to being "TOO GAY!" at 6:55 in the soundtrack, Rufus could not possibly do it more gay than Judy did. Which is quite an accomplishment.

It was amazing how much energy she expended on stage. That little body just sparkled. We lost her far too soon. I still grieve for the greatest entertainer of my life time, or perhaps all time. The tapes of her short-lived TV show are treasures.

Was going to start a thread but then decided to see if he already had a thread. Of course he does!

He will be at the Ford Theater in Hollywood in two weeks, celebrating Canada's 150th birthday. Tickets are nearly gone.

He marches to the beat of his own drum which I love. In my book he is so genuine and a great performer, though not everyone's cup of tea.

Looking forward to hearing what he creates for celebrating the great Canadian icons he will tackle that night.

Sorry, another non-Judy addition to this thread,

but wanted to report attending his performance tonight in Hollywood, Ford Theater, and it was fantastic.

The place was packed, every seat. Lots of diehard fans. The evening began for us with a dreamy ride up the elevator with Darren Criss. :)

But that was quickly forgotten when the concert began. Was sublime. RW sure marches to his own drum. Love him. Was hoping his sister Martha would join and she did. Had excellent backup musicians. Look forward to seeing him again.
