There should be at least a "Moment of Silence" at the opening game of the World Series to commerate the lost life of a beautiful, 21 yo Red Sox fan who unnecessarily lost her life while celebrating the Sox's victory over the Yankees.

I agree.

It seems that so often when there's a major sports victory, there are always individuals who get out of control and become destructive. It's too bad that enthusiastic sports fans can't refrain from such behavior, but I guess too much alcohol will tend to set off those that can't handle it and lean toward bad behavior.

There is no excuse for jeopardizing people's lives, vandalizing or turning over cars, and the like. I don't know all the facts regarding the police reaction to the crowd and the incident with the student. But it seems that what happened was a tragic consequence of a confrontation resulting from violent behavior by inebriated celebrators. Why can't people enjoy a sports victory without being destructive? It's truly sad.

I agree - but at least we are not as crazy as those stupid soccer fans in Europe. Now THAT'S what I call scary!

Sociologists have a field day with "mob mentality".

I'll never understand the frenzy that causes a statement like "Let's pick up that park bench and shove it through the storefront of that electronics store" to seem perfectly reasonable. Or "that phalanx of mounted Boston PD pointing guns at us is really just kidding. Let's throw stuff at them to show how much we love them."

I suppose events like this demonstrate just how large the percentage of the population is that's 2 clicks away from a Darwin award at any time.

Sad. Very sad.
