The New York Times, where we can see all the news that's fit to print, is undergoing a renaissance of sorts. Perhaps its location near the seedier side of Times Square has finally seeped in or perhaps circulation is down, but this week saw the Times print a story (with a map included) about Greenwich Village sex shops.

Today, in the Sunday Styles section, is a story about an upscale sex shop opened on the Upper East Side, along with pictures of sex toys and details about the $375 vibrator.

 

Not finished, the Times Book Review today has a two page spread (hehehe) on a book about anal sex. By a woman! The Times entitled the review "The Beauty of Submission." The author tells all about her life with an anal fuckbuddie, including "a tally of how many times she was anally penetrated ...per week" and how she dedicated herself "to finding the best and most economical lubricants."

 

Additionally, we are told that, after her partner penetrated her perky butt, she saved his used condoms "much as an acolyte might hoard religious relics."

Not to be outdone, the LA Times today has a story from the Financial Times about the proliferation of sex shops in Britain. In the course of it,, they let you know that the cafe in the Sunset Boulevard store of the Hustler sex shop opens two hours before the store itself. "In the evenings, couples might go there for for dessert and to browse the merchandise."

 

The article says that the proliferation of sex shops is being driven by women, perhaps influenced by the tv show Sex and the City.
