I am fine with edgy but I don't think buns or braids are edgy. Buns belong on librarians and braids belong on little girls who live in the Swiss alps.

Oh good grief. Gender essentialism much? You don't have to like 'em, but can we stop dragging cultural baggage into it?

Also fuming about two disses/stereotypes of Asians on the forum in the last 24 hours, but figured it was easier to respond to the "ugh, girly hair" comments than to borderline racism.

BTW, this was the height of fashion for men in the late 18th century but would be attacked today as girly.

It's all in the social context.

Maybe your focus should be a little lower to notice the difference Gman ? Or you need to stop watching cartoons ?

Cartoons are always there for you when other things (men) aren't.

He's ok. I mean he could eat cookies in my bed if he showed up. But he wouldn't be my A-#1 choice otherwise. I'd prefer his hair more free-flowing and not confined to that tail. But I could accept that better than those earrings and that piercing he needs to ditch. (I figure since I'm never going to have a guy like this, I might as well 'design' him as I'd prefer him).

Although I usually prefer men with shorter hair, I kind of like the man bun, especially if it's done in a no-frills, completely utilitarian way. As soon as it looks coiffed or highly styled, no way.

I don't care how much he begs!! He's not getting into my bed until he gets a decent, normal haircut. Oh and he should get the tattoo removed too. :D

Can we not confuse "haircut I like" with "decent and normal"? I realize Gman is in part speaking with tongue in cheek, but not entirely.

Also, which of us would the wider world consider "decent and normal"? Not many, I suspect.

And I am most certain Gman that you are incentive enough for him to do BOTH ? It seems to me that the choices most are making here are solely based on

superficial things, and I guess thats OK since you really dont know these guys. but lets just say you met, and he was an awesome guy, great personality, great heart and soul, intelligent and funny. Would you really turn him down because of a "hairstyle" ? (Gman, we know your answer)

Personality and kind deeds will always 'Trump hairstyles' (get it-I made a secret political reference ). I'm sure once we are boyfriends I could get him into a better haircut.

The Count ? I thought that was a current photo of Princess Leia ???

I've just never worried about how someone styles their hair, since I rarely get up that high. ;)

Also, from a utilitarian perspective, it is nice to have a handle to grab onto.

It's Gary Oldman as Dracula.

Princess Leia is older than that now. :p

Good grief. I saw that movie, but I had no idea that's where the photo came from. I have to admit I found the movie a bit overwrought.

That's also how I imagined Quentin's sideburns functioning.

Since we are talking about recent men's hair fashions, is anyone else tired of the new clone look? You know, the one where people think they are cast members of Modern Family:
