Not surprisingly, I'm more of a fan of Simone de Beauvoir (other than her practice of seducing students and then sending them along to Sartre). Her book The Second Sex is terrific.

 

I haven't read Sartre, but I've read a couple of novels by Camus. Dostoevsky can also be classified as existentialist, as can Kirkegaard.

Also, those students were female. So there might not be any sloppy seconds, at least not as conventionally described.
