Maybe so, but he was the one who was insecure about approaching the blond guy. It was a sweet film about that insecurity.

Very true. Minus being artistic, I did see a wee bit of myself in him, rough around the edges, the loner, the unpretty one, the shy and insecure boy.

My whole adolescence in eight minutes. Minus the self-awareness (I'm going on 70 now and things were different then) and the terrific artistic talent this kid has.
