Johnny Depp Plays Donald Trump in Funny or Die’s Insanely Ambitious The Art of the Deal

Johnny Depp may not have scored the best actor Oscar nomination that many expected for his role in Black Mass, but he hasn’t wasted any time in revealing his next spectacular transformation. He stars as Donald Trump in the newly unearthed The Art of the Deal, an adaptation of Trump’s book written by, directed by, and starring Trump himself.

The 50-minute film, supposedly unearthed at a yard sale by Ron Howard, is kitted out perfectly as a 1980s relic, with a VHS hiss in the background and even an original theme song written by Kenny Loggins. It’s way, way longer than your average Funny or Die bit, but as written by Joe Randazo and directed by Drunk History creator Jeremy Konner, it zags in enough wild directions to keep up the energy. Much as Donald Trump has become an unavoidable pop culture figure in recent years, most people probably haven’t read The Art of the Deal to see where it all began. Now we don’t have to!
