Calif. Supreme Court Invalidates Gay Marriages

It appears that the CA Supreme Court left open the possibility of a constitutional challenge to the state's marriage laws. That's the issue in a separate case that's working its way through the system. It's not over yet in California, unless it, too, passes a constitutional amendment. At that point it'll be up the U.S. Supreme Court (in Antonin Scalia's nightmare scenario) to decide if we have equal rights under the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court will also have to decide on the recognition of same-sex marriages in all of the states, as it had to do in the case of mixed-race marriages.
