Just returned from eight days in Monteral. Fantastic! The city has so much to offer that I can recommend it to anyone considering a vacation. While we were there four festivals were happening. The Jazz Festival, an art festival in the Gay area, an African music festival and a fesival concerning Montreal's relations with Louisiana. The botanical garden is superb. Just walking around the Latin Quarter is fun and the restaurants there are representative of cuisines of the world.

The Gay area of town is know as "the village". Seems that this area became the Gay mecca just prior to the olympics being held in Montreal. The area is loaded with great B & Bs, restaurants and bars. Without a doubt the best strip bars I have been to. Although I did miss going to Taboo which is the fun spot for many who write here, I certainly enjoyed Stock Bar. If you go, don't miss the opportunity to meet Zack who dances there. He's a hunk and a really nice guy.

For Places to stay I highly recommend Aubergell (http://www.aubergell.com). A really fine B & B operated by Yvon Jussaume who will go far out of his way to make your stay pleasant and fun. He also owns a fine jazz bar on the first floor and the patrons are east to meet and most fun to be around.

My next visit will be soon.

Can someone give me a little more info on montreal?

1)I assume montreal has a subway to get around??

2)Are there any bathouses?

3)What are the strip clubs like? Do the guys get totally nude? What are the best days to go?

4)What area of the city should I stay in? Downtown or does the village have hotels in it or just small B&B?

5)What is the exchange rate now?

Any other info. would be appreciated.

Cajun, thanks for sharing and I'm happy to hear that you had a great time in Montreal. It's makes for a fun summer vacation.

Kevin, For more info on Montreal, check out the very informative threads in the Strip Club Forum. Also, there are reviews of all the Montreal Clubs in the Strip Club Faq Forum.

You definitely should take a look at all of the Montreal threads in the strp club forum.

But I will answer a couple of your questions..

>Can someone give me a little more info on montreal?

>1)I assume montreal has a subway to get around??

yes. The subway and/or on foot are the easiest ways to get around. Taxis are plentiful if you are out past closing time.

I bought a week pass on the subway for something like C$18. I definitely got my money's worth out of it as I rode all over the place.

>2)Are there any bathouses?

Yes, there are numerous bathhouses or "spas".

>3)What are the strip clubs like? Do the guys get totally nude?

Yes for totally nude. The strip club forum wil tell you all you need to know and more.

>What are the best days to go?

>4)What area of the city should I stay in? Downtown or does the

>village have hotels in it or just small B&B?

There are hotel threads over in the strip club forum as well. There really aren't any hotels in the Village proper, but there are some B&B's. But you can really stay pretty much anywhere in downtown and take the subway to the heart of the Village with ease.

>5)What is the exchange rate now?

Exchange is about US$1=C$1.30 at the moment. The USD has really dropped against pretty much all currencies over the last year.

The official Montreal tourism bureau has lots of good brochures and booklets. Just google Montreal tourism and you will find their site. They even have Gay Montreal info there. If you request they will mail you the official tourist guide which is filled with terrific info. I wish all cities had such a good free guide, I used mine to plan pre-trip and carried it with me pretty much everywhere while there. They will also send you info and maps for the Village if you ask.

I found the city a bit dirty and run down, but there is a ton of stuff to see and do and it is very easy to get around. Lots of good shopping too.
