OOOOPPPS! Can I assume that makes you at fault? Maybe not, if it was an intersection and she ran the light? Whatever, it is GOOD that BOTH of you are OKAY, as well as any passengers in either vehicle. That is the most IMPORTANT thing, not only for personal reasons but also for insurance/legal reasons.

Is this your first accident? Never mind, I already know it is based on how upset you are. The first time is DEFINITELY the freakiest, and as I have been involved in 4 traffic accidents, only at fault once, I can tell you that what you are experiencing is nothing unusual! But the GOOD thing is, that from now on, you will be much more alert, but that certainly won't prevent future accidents where you are the innocent party!

>Anyway, all will work itself out.

Yep, that is a GOOD attitude, as it will INDEED work itself out, and you will find in the future, that you will find that this encounter was just one of life's many peccadillos.

Now go smoke a joint, or have a cocktail, or whatever, and REALIZE that this is not the end of the world! :)

You'll be fine! AND what you are feeling at the moment is really NATURAL and HEALTHY! :)

VaHawk I was in a accident once before but that was two decades ago. Thank you kindly for the words of encouragement. They truly made me feel calmer.

I'm glad that you and the other party involved didn't get hurt. Your situation could have been a whole lot worse. I suppose in an inordinate sort of way I can relate somewhat to what you are going through. About four months ago I got into a really bad car accident. I was driving through a very busy intersection and the light that was turning amber and all of a sudden this vehicle makes a right hand turn and pulls right in front of me. I tried jamming on my brakes within a split second. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for

... Thankfully, Rohale was a-ok, but now he's being compared to Jane Mansfield in auto refference ;)

Glad to hear that things are looking up Aces. Auto accidents can be horribly startling, even if it's just a small bumper-to-bumper. It really makes you realize how fragile we are as humans and that life can be ended in a split-second, no matter how tough we think we are.

Even more amazing is the fact that these small little boxes of colored light control so many lives on the road.

Warmest Always,

Your screen name must be no accident of fate. ;)

May I take the opposing view that today was a great day for you. Any accident that all parties walk away from is a good one. Congratulations, your glass is definitely half full IMO. :)

I'm usually an upbeat guy. I have my off days like most people but today was especially trying. I'm just typing this for myself not looking for or expect any sympathy.

I was in an accident, totalled my car was banged up and shaken up but ok. The woman driving the other vehicle is alright as well. It was a pretty harsh crash with me hitting her SUV broadside then her spinning around and slamming into me broadside.

The strange part is that during all the hoopla (police, paramedics, tow trucks, rental car, insurance co., etc.) I became very tearfull and depressed. I'm not really sure why this happened but it has stayed with me all day and now into the evening.

Ah ha, to be in an auto reference with Jane Mansfield, I tip my hat off to you Benj. I now feel like Bob Hope as Pale Face;)

Aces, I very much have a lot of sympathy for you. What I wanted to say from my previous post is that when I hit the car in front of me. As Benjamin quite rightly pointed out I was ok and I felt calm and composed, but unfortunately the other driver involved in the accident was very much shaken up. He used one of my cell phones to call 911 and his hands were shaking. I felt very sorry for him and the irony is the police didn't show up. As they told the other driver that they only show up if someone gets hurt. Luckily neither one of us got a ticket. Right after the accident I drove straight down to the Mitsibushi dealership and they refered me to a auto workshop and my car was there for over ten days. Like you Aces, I had to deal with the insurance company and this turned out to be a major headache. I hope you don't end up having the run around with your insurance company as I did. I have to say I liked the rental car that I was provided with. In my case it didn't dawn on me until I saw the true extent of the damage to my old car a few days later.

Benjamin said it the best from a human point of view just how fragile life is. I'm glad he uttered those words because they are very profound. Aces, everything will get better within a week or so and you know what, it is often said that men aren't supposed to cry. For the ordeal you went through, you're only human and you had every right to cry in dealing with this situation the best way you could. You deserve many hugs my friend.

On a brighter note, once the insurance side to matters are dealt with then you can focus on the next stage. The most positive aspect that can come out of the experience is the purchase of a new or used vehicle. That was the approach that I took a few months back. In a way it helped me deal with the problems that I was experiencing at the time. I suppose not everyone would agree with that. Aces, what ever you decide to do next, I wish you nothing but the best and in your situation, I hope everything works out for you. Good luck to you sir.

TY this is an interesting way to view the situation. I like it.

Also, thanks to the others who sent their regards privately and in this thread. I am sore but doing well. My car was officially totalled today my the insurance company. Buying another new car will actually be a fun break from all of that has happened.

Now any good product liability attorneys want to take on Ford? My airbags failed to open :(
