Google voice transition to "hangouts" (whatsApp)

many times hangouts simply doesn't work on my phone, I have to use my regular phone to text guys "hey, I'm using hangouts, wanna join me?" from my personal number, if I want you use my google voice for texting, I have to go online and text from google voice's website.

 

I'm just thinking about giving up and getting a flip phone (as cheap as possible) just to contact escorts.

 

Any other out there dealing with this unnecessary change?

Perhaps I am missing something, but Google's FAQ page states the following:

 

Get Google Voice texts & voicemails in Hangouts

If your Google Voice and Hangouts accounts are connected, you can send and receive text messages from your Google Voice number through Hangouts.

 

Once you turn on Google Voice text messages for Hangouts, they'll only be available and stored in Hangouts. The text messages won't be available in Google Voice, but your old text messages can still be viewed in Google Voice.

 

Note that it reads "you can..." it does not read "you must." To me, that means migrating to Hangouts is optional.

let me try removing hangouts and start all over again, I'm 75 and sometimes I'm an iPhone-challenged person

I think once you transition from Google Voice to Hangouts you can't go back.

You should be able to incorporate your regular texts, hangout/google voice texts, and google voice calls, into hangouts.
