Looks like visitors to Chicago will have another option. In the Rogers Park neighborhood on Sheridan and Albion they've broke ground and started building a new Hampton Inn. Rogers Park is the northern most hood in the city that hosts Loyola University. The hotel is right next to the red line, so its super crazy to get to and from. I think it is due to open some time next year. So if your like me and prefer to stay in neighborhoods and feel like your part of the city rather than a tourist this is an awesome option. https://lucconferences.wordpress.com/2015/10/09/construction-begins-for-new-hampton-inn-in-rogers-park/

Oh and some of the eye candy from the university can be quite nice!

I'm glad to see this hotel being constructed. There aren't many decent hotels between the Gold Coast and Evanston. The Days Inn in Lakeview gets spotty reviews (I've never stayed there) and the Best Western, also in Lake View, never has much appeal.

I've stayed at the days inn and best western before its remodel. I found both nice and easy to get to and from.

I like the Hawthorn Terrace Best Western on Broadway. There's a parking garage next door, it's downtown glam, it's pet-friendly if you need that and it's smack in the middle of Boy's Town.

I'm glad to hear you have both enjoyed your stays at these hotels. I might give them a shot the next time I visit Chicago. It is always hard to tell whether hotel reviews are accurate, particularly when one portrays the hotel as the Taj Mahal and the very next review has it looking like Grey Gardens.

The room I had at the days inn was on the small side but the staff were nice and it was on the bus line. The bw was a good sized room and like the days inn on the bus line. If you stay at the bw avoid the grocery store next door like the plague.

Are you referring to the Treasure Island? That store was in need of a re-do 20 years ago and never got it.

Treasure Island was a great family owned business that got involved in a family dispute where, if I recall correctly, there was embezzlement going on. The business survived, but barely. I've always thought it and the parking garage next door would be gobbled up one day just for its valuable real estate.

I think you are right about the embezzlement. The store on Clybourn isn't bad nor are their stores on the Gold Coast. The one in Wilmette was just godawful. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 1960's.
