I guess you have not seen the posting of one of the forum members discussing rentboy and the bogus ads and rentboy not caring about the ads being fake.

Take a look at his post:

"tristanbaldwin Master

Love that Rentboy started requiring an ID to open accounts; but I wonder if they're name matching the ID to the CREDIT CARD / PAYMENT form attached to the account; for financial purposes...and if they couldn't give two shits to glance at it, and see if it even remotely resembles the escort ad in question. Methinks this is the case; it's all about billing.

Very frequent client of mine who was a researcher on Wall St back in his hayday...guy never misses a detail about ANYTHING...ran into the folks from Rentboy over in Fire Island a few years back. (I think I've posted this story before...). He gave them a bunch of grief about how more than 40% of the guys he hires weren't the guys in the ads, that there is no vetting process, etc. (BTW, this is also a guy who never once has bothered to sign on or create an account at Daddy's...LOL). He further griped about how two or three different appearing ads in NYC were actually in fact the same guy- and why doesn't Rentboy do anything about it. Their response? 'Caveat Emptor'(Spelling?)- buyer beware. Rentboy views it as their CUSTOMER that they have an interest in protecting...in this case the shady escort with three different appearing ads...as long as he pays the moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. They don't seem to have any interest in the 'End User' of the service provided..or else they would have ended their own BS 'Rentboy Reviews' section, and hired Daddy as an outsource and bigger name to run their reviews, long ago."

Close to half of those I've hired from rentboy used fake photos. As the above quote says, Caveat Emptor -

That's too bad that they don't care. It's seems to me that if they become no better than BP or CL then clients won't bother with RB and legitimate escorts will go elsewhere. I was shocked to hear how much RB charges.

There may be a market for a site that enforces legitimacy. There has been discussion about VIP service - maybe a site with verification could be the start for that.

Maybe somehow this forum can go to RB and express our concerns en masse.

Interestingly the clients are the product that RB offers to their customers who are the escorts. So the clients do have clout.

BTW I have not yet had to deal with a fake though most of my hires have had reviews.

i was not posting it to call out rentboy, i was posting it for the consumers information

Even though your intent was not to call out rentboy, the fact remains that too many guys think that if they hire from a rentboy ad, the ad will most likely be genuine.

There are almost as many dishonest, bogus and fake ads on rentboy as there are on backpage.

Caution, caution caution!

Im talking about the South Florida area - Fakes are on the increase on Rentboy as well as a decrease in the "quality" of guys too. A lot more guys into PNP too - just read the "primary interests" area

Rentboy and Rentmen etc = a false sense of security.

I don't know why so many people think that hiring an escort from one of the "main" sites assures integrity and honesty in advertising. Quite simply, it doesn't assure anything except more revenue spent by escorts who advertise on the main sites rather than on backpage.

None of the sites is concerned with "truth" - the sites just want their revenue from the ads. It is that blunt!

It is only when a known celebrity's photos are falsely used in an ad, and a complaint is made about the bogus ad, will rentboy or rentmen remove a fake ad.

Again, when responding to those ads, caution, caution and more caution.

You're absolutely correct and I think now more than ever

But "hiring with reviews" gives you some sense of security ... provided the reviews are not fake!

Ha!

Exactly!

Even if there is a review on this site, there is no guaranty that the review is genuine.

Just a couple of weeks ago it was disclosed that a well reviewed escort and frequent participant of this forum had questionable ads and reviews.

His contradictory reviews were posted here after several years of no one saying anything about the inaccurate ads and reviews. The posts related to the misleading ads have since been removed from the thread that once contained them.

Logic tells me that his situation is not an isolated instance.

Over the years I've hired from rentboy, M4RN, craigslist (back when) and backpage. And some of the older, now defunct sites such as meetlocalmen.com.

Of my hires who turned out to be using stolen pictures, one hundred percent were from ads on rentboy.

Did you, guys, submit reviews to help others not to fall in the same trap?

Not sure that would help much. If someone's whole profile is fake all they'd have to do is a quick reinvention.

Shocked! You mean some of the reviews are fake, as in planted?

Posting a formal review of the scammer with his contact number is a first step in the right direction that hopefully would give a maximum exposure to a large number of clients.

That almost mirrors my own experience with Rentboy.

As I previously said, rentboy has an undeserved good reputation.

Rentboy places ads for the money, as any similar business does. The problem is that Rentboy doesn't care if an ad is bogus unless the fallout of the bogus ad hurts rentboy. Rentboy claims that they care about genuine ads but Rentboy's actions speak to the contrary.

One example of Rentboy taking down an ad is when a fake poster recently used the photos of an escort who frequently posts on this forum. The escort told us of the instance. If the fake ad involved a lesser know person in a different profession, I doubt that the bogus ad would have been removed.

Several months ago Rentboy refused to remove an ad that contained stolen photos of an escort I know. Even after copied identification with photo was sent to Rentboy, they still refused to remove the bogus ad claiming it was a "he said - he said" situation over the stolen photos. The identification contained a photo but it was ignored by Rentboy.

Caution, caution and more caution.

Absolutely correct. It is done often.

A reverse image search of escort photos frequently shows numerous ads with different names and phone numbers for the same photo.

A review would not help because the faker would change names and phone numbers again if he learned of a negative exposing review.

Would nagging and hurling anonymously on a Message Board would better help?

Sorry, I must disagree.

Many of the scam guys have multiple phone number and names.

What meaningful things could we say in a review?

In the U.S., AT & T and T-Mobile sell SIM cards without asking for any identification. These SIM cards have a telephone number associated with them. The guys with the fake ads simply use a new number via a $10.00 SIM card. Getting a new phone number is quite simple and cheap.

In the world of "selfies" even photos can be doctored and can escape an image search.

It is a tough world out there and the fake and bogus "escorts" are getting better at their game.

Seriously, there is a major problem with escort ads. It does not require great intellect to understand that fact.

For every counter measure clients try, the scammer comes up with another way around it.

Like I said, use caution and do not heavily rely on rentboy.

Simple.

Those are all valid points! Thank you for pointing them out.

A skillful scammer will always find a way around, no matter what.

Exposing them in a formal review with "their names and phone numbers" (even if they use multiple numbers) is a step in the right direction. The result is that they're documented on the Daddy's site.

I'd like to know why would you completely discount the purpose of the review site and warning other members of the community?

I don"t "completely" discount the purpose of the review site. The review site has many positive benefits in different situations. However, the review site is not perfect and it is vulnerable to accept fake reviews to support fake ads (escorts or their friends write reviews). In many cases, the review site is accurate and very helpful.

However, to answer your question, fake advertisers usually change identities often. The time process involved to submit a review and have the review "verified" by a fake escort is unworkable. It is tantamount to yelling fire long after a building has burned to the ground.

Here is a situation and the review process:

1. Client is scammed by fake escort (fake photos, fake description, not performing, etc) - THIS HAPPENS OFTEN.

2. Client submits review with escort's phone number and name that are no longer used and the escort's ad is discontinued.

3. Review gets checked and reviewed at review site.

4. The fake escort is asked to respond to the review. However, no response arrives at the review site to verify the review because the escort is a fake.

5. Time elapses and the review would be posted with a name that is meaningless and a phone number that is no longer valid.

6. What is accomplished in this situation where a fake escort repeatedly recycles his identity? A review with obsolete and useless information is worse than no review.

Face it, as I said earlier, it is a tough world out there.

Reviews are a great idea but reviews are not a panacea.
