HOW MANY GAYS ARE US?

Out of curiosity, we all pretty much think of hiring escorts as something of a tradition, but the first time most of us ever did, it was probably a somewhat nervous new experience. I was wondering - is there any data, or do we have any sense, as to what percentage of gay men in this country have paid for sex at least once if not more??

I don't really know -- are we a minority in the gay male population? (by minority, less than half?)

In the 1970’s a survey was conducted in which gay men were invited to fill out a lengthy questionnaire about sexuality. (Since the participants volunteered, it was not a scientific survey.) More than 1000 men participated in the survey. 23% of those who responded said that they had paid for sex at some time. 22% indicated that they had been paid for sex at least once.

I would venture to say that if your first sexual experience with another man was for $$$$ that you are much less than 1/2 and probably somewhere less than 10 percent.
