The Dreamers is a great movie, but Havana Nights was such a bore! The casting agent should be shot! The female lead was totally unbelievable,, as were her parents. The chemistry between her and Diego would freeze a hot candle!

Thanks Lucky for beginning this thread. I went to this film yesterday and found myself completely involved; it was a visual experience for me as well as a minor intellectual one. In terms of male beauty, Michael Pitts was a complete turn on for me; his pouty lips and elongated nips and that cute tight ass had me becoming randy and desiring him. But, all in all, I'm glad that I managed to see this film.

I just saw the movie today and thoroughly enjoyed it! Like other posters, I'm glad they didn't take away the elements that would have given it an "R" rating. I think that would have really diminished the movie.

I do wish the movie had included more of the gay theme of the book. I really wanted the relationship between the guys to go to the next level.

I did appreciate that in the nude scene with Michael Pitt he was shown in his "natural" state. When Eve was pulling down his boxers it was a real turn-on for me to see him with natural pubes instead of the shaved/trimmed crotch that seems so popular now with the current strippers, dancers, and magazine models. Also found it interesting that they didn't try to use makeup to cover the pimple on his ass. He was shown as a real guy and NOT some beefed up cover-boy.

Perhaps the thing that struck me most was the way they showed the civil unrest that was common during that era. I'm old enough to remember Stonewall, Kent State, the White Night riots, and other major protests. I felt that taking to the streets, open rebellion, and the activism were accurately portrayed.

Along the lines of civil disobedience, I couldn't help but wonder if it isn't time to do that again. With the gay marriage issue I think we've become political lap dogs. We may voice our opinions but we don't take to the street DEMANDING our rights. I think we've been "Political and Polite" too long. This movie really resurrected the activist in me that feels we need to take off the gloves and literally fight for our rights.

RE: Latters Days and the DVD Maurice

>Just watched "Maurice" on DVD. Is there a better scene in any

>gay film than the last scene between Maurice and Scudder?

>Rupert Graves is just wonderful in the film.

Thank you so much for bringing this DVD to my attention. I've been waiting for Maurice to come out on VHS or DVD since 1987.

I break out in tears every time I see that final boathouse scene or the scene with Alex climbing through the bedroom.

"Now we shan't never be parted."

Sigh...Hoover
