Studies show that women pay more than men for such products as shampoo, deodorant, razors and shaving gel. Retail experts call it the "pink tax."

"You wouldn't notice this because women's products are separated from the men's products, so it's not easy to compare the prices," said consumer retail expert Andrea Woroch. "This is actually happening. Women are paying more than men."

Rossen Reports went shopping for such products as shaving gel, shampoo, deodorant and visited a dry cleaner to compare prices for women versus men.

Hmmm...I never visit the "men's" section in drugstores, I get my shampoo where the ladies get it, I haven't seen anti-perspirant segregated, and I use an electric razor.

I remember hearing or reading long ago that men's shirts were cheaper to have laundered than comparable women's shirts. The cleaners defended it on the basis of volume, so many more men's shirts are laundered and the machines are sized larger; they don't have as many women's shirts to do and hence more overhead on the smaller machines.

If it's true that it's the common practice to charge more for women than for men for the same products, the there's a potential to make a fortune by simply selling the equivalent women's products at the same price. If that's the case, women will all go for the comparably-priced product. That's how the free market works. Of course, my domestic partner pays much more than I do for his shampoo and so on than I do. He's just convinced his is better. Maybe women just chose more expensive stuff because they believe theirs are better than ours.
