Man to Stand Trial for Death of Man He Met Through Phone Service

(Salt Lake City-AP) -- The man accused of killing a man he met through an internet phone dating service will go to trial next month.

 

Sixty-nine-year old Leo Anderson was found dead in his apartment in September. Police later arrested 40-year old Ira Eugene Hensley in Las Vegas who was found driving Anderson's truck.

 

Police believe Hensley met Anderson through a telephone dating service. They say Anderson arranged to meet Hensley, then picked him up and took him back to his home.

 

Prosecutors say Hensley bound Anderson's wrists, wrapped his head, neck and mouth with a telephone cord, then dealt him a fatal blow to the head.

 

Hensley's trial is expected to begin March 23.

 

He's charged with first-degree felony murder and felony burglary, robbery and theft charges.

A horrible story, but I'm confused by the advice. It sounds like the alleged murderer was someone the victim met on a phone DATING service. Perhaps I just missed it but I didn't see anything that suggested that the victim intended to pay the guy accused of killing him. You are not suggesting that people shouldn't attempt to date or have free sex dates but should only hire escorts, are you?

I also don't understant what we are talking about. Anytime we go out and meet someone (wheither it be: over the phone, in a bar, or online) there is always a chance they will be a freak. The only advice there is on this matter is to be carefull. That starts with the interaction you have over the phone or online. When you meet the guy watch how he acts, speech pattern and body language. At the first sign of trouble just get the hell out of there.

Sorry, I should have made my original post more clear. Previous articles, that I didn't post, indicated this was a date-for-hire situation. I've had several friends who "saw" the accused murderer in local chat rooms, exchanged IM's and phone messages, and almost hired him. He was apparently a real charmer on-line and with his voice messages.

 

I didn't mean to imply that we should give up all dating and relationships and only hire escorts. I merely meant to point out the problems that can arise when we are not careful and cautious. It's one thing to hire an escort and not have them live up to expectations. It's quite another thing to have them murder us.

 

That's one of the reasons I appreciate this site. It's a great source of information on available escorts and ones that we should probably avoid. When I hire an escort that's been reviewed on this site by credible reviewers, I have an added feeling of confidence that they are legitimate.
