Okay you Left Coasters...where were these pictures taken? I don't think you see the Hollywood sign from Griffith Park or do you?

I can't think of a trail area where you get that particular view.:o

Hey Les,

I could be wrong but this could be the area up behind Dodger Stadium. Isn't that called Elysian Park? If that is the place, it's interesting because the L.A.P.D. has their police academy right in that area. I agree with Candyman, *what Sign*?

Dog Run

 

There are actually a number of places where people often do brief hikes, jogs and also run/walk their dogs. I can think of three places near or below the Hollywood sign. The one mentioned by Jackhammer would appear, to my photographic eye, to be too far away for the Hollywood sign to be at either that angle or that visibility in the depth of field.

 

If there is a prize for this (and I have no interest in the model at that), let me know and I will muster the energy to figure it out.

It seems to me that this is a way east of the Hollywood area, but still might have been taken from the residential area of Hollywood below the sign. Really though it seems to more likely have been taken from somewhere on the north side of the Silver Lake area.

 

That's my best guess based upon memory, without a scouting mission. I'd make the scouting mission if you could guarantee me that I'd run into Jack Ryan, but not just to locate this view of the damn sign!

First and foremost, this appears to be an old image of a younger Jack Ryan--anyone disagree?

 

Second, if anyone is really interested in where it was taken, if young Jack was to rotate to the right slightly and look directly over to the HOLLYWOOD sign, the Hollywood Bowl would be down to his left, the Hollywood Freeway slightly over to his right and Highland Blvd. directly below. These hills are in the area north of Franklin and east of Highland--the foreground shown as dirt and weeds in these pics are all homes now with very expensive views of the HOLLYWOOD sign.:+
