Is anybody else experiencing delays posting messages on the forum?

 

I'm asked to wait 6 minutes before posting a reply or any new message.

 

I wonder if I should get a server of my own like Hillary.

It happens from time to time.... the system/website does slow down. Every now and then it forces me to reboot, but 6 min seems like a long time.

No problems here in that regard. However, when using my iPad to respond to threads and private conversations the keyboard acts strangely, as in it stops functioning. So I clear it and then all is fine. However, it's a bit frustrating when typing longer posts. This has only started within the past week or so and only with this site. So I would guess that there are a few idiosyncratic bugs in the system.

I wonder if it is indeed because both of you guys post very frequently. BVB has over 10,000 posts in a four year period since May 2011. Marylander over 4,000 in two and a half years since November 2012. My 5,000 plus are over a ten year period since June 2005.

 

Incidentally I had been lurking here for many years prior to joining. I would bet that has been the case for many.

Well it could very well be the equipment....but most likely it's just me.

For frequent posters: it may be the anti-spam software, which is set with certain criteria. It's not necessarily aimed at you. Try not posting so much in one sitting.

BVB has over 10,000 posts in a four year period since May 2011. Marylander over 4,000 in two and a half years since November 2012. My 5,000 plus are over a ten year period since June 2005.

I'm amazed by the number of posts some of you guys [yinz?] have made, and don't expect to make anything even approaching that number! Still I've only been here for five minutes. What has amazed me is the number of 'likes' I've had, either because I've said some things right, or because people are encouraging the newbie!!

LOVE THIS PIC BVB! Good to see a pic of you in action posting here! Actually I noticed the small TV in the corner and not the cup of coffee!

 

Regarding that TV and the computer in general, it reminded me of something that a certain working guy who is quite special to both of us remarked upon seeing a similarly ancient white TV set on the kitchen counter at my Southern Command Post. "WOW! Tell me that's an Original Apple Model what ever! That's so awesome!" My response was, "Not quite! That's what a television set used to look like years ago!"

 

I am up to date on a lot of things, but TV sets and automobiles are not exactly in the mix for me!

I would say 2/3 of my posts are just pictures, and I've been posting a lot since I retired a few months ago.

 

I'm fast typing too and it's great for my achy bones in their mid 70's.

I wonder... I get a notice saying I must wait 300 seconds before posting again.

 

if you're a fast typer/poster you do get a notice right after posting picture saying you must way 60 sec to post again.

 

It just told me to wait 79 seconds to post again.

I have been a frequent poster only lately, and it has happened to me several times.

 

I loved your comment to BVB. I spilled water on my keyboard yesterday and later in the kitchen and then the livingroom. No damage done, but no history of this and all in one day.

Well, it's always good to get the perspevtive from a person give from another part of the world, and especially from someone located "Down Under"! That's why you are getting so many likes!

 

I would think that this time of the year that things are starting to cool down a bit for you. It seems so strange to us up here that weather-wise things are quite the opposite for you guys. In any event, I get the impression that there are quite a few hot boys down there. Those Aussie lifeguards!!! With any luck, you will be able to turn up the heat with some of them so as to get through your winter months with a smile on your face!
