Hello Gentleman,

Just wanted to inform you guys to watch the movie "Bessie" on HBO. Queen Latifah is Electrifying in this movie. Tour De Force performance of The Great Queen.

The movie is about Legendary 1920's Blues Singer - Bessie Smith. Queen Latifah plays the Blues singer as the movie centers around Miss Smith's raise and fall to fame.

I can see this movie winning numerous awards as it's the Very Best work Queen Latifah has ever made or starred in.

Watch it as you wont be disappointed. Watched it 5 times already over and over again, and still can't get enough of it.

In the few serious acting roles I've seen Latifah do, I think she is quite a good actress, underrated perhaps because of her roots as a successful rap artist.

TruHart1

I agree as I too love all her many films, but this one here TOPS them all I think. When you see it, Tru - You'll see what I mean. ;)

I was very lucky to see Latifah on the same bill with k d Lang and Melissa Etheridge at the Beacon Theater in NYC in the 1990s. Quite a wonderful show. Madonna came in only to hear Latifah and left after her session. Liza Minnelli

did the same thing. She is greatly respected by other performers.

Queen Latifah won the Screen Actors Guild award for best Female Actor in a Limited Series for "Bessie".

I thought she was terrific in the role but the movie itself was a disaster. It was so superficial and mostly highly inaccurate. A huge disappointment. Only worth it to see once for her performance.

Does no one care about accuracy when making bio-pics of famous people?
