Hotels near LaGuardia Airport NYC

Does anyone know of any clean but cheap hotels near LaGuardia Airport?

There's one right by the airport that I've stayed at twice, but I can't remember the name. Sorry--guess I'm now officially old and senile.

I've stayed at several, but all were pricey and nasty. What you describe may be a null set.

Unless you need a place to check in late and check out early for an early flight, is it that hard to go further afield?

Actually I need a place with an early check in (like 10am) for a 3-4 hour stay

Friendly staff. Clean rooms, but a bit worn. Last time my bed spread had a burn hole in it. Bus stop right out front for mass transit. Right next to the airport.

I visit NYC once a year. My go to hotel is the Verve Hotel 40-03 29th St. in Long Island City. It is a $26 taxi ride to the hotel or you can ride a bus and then a subway to a stop only 5 minutes from the hotel. I do the later. Two great things about the hotel are that it is a 5 minute walk to two different subways and it has free breakfast.

 

The room charge is usually about $140 a night (great for NYC). Right now it is higher than I have ever seen it ($199). The area has a lot of warehouse and short way to east neighborhoods. However, the area is changing greatly with more hotels being built in the area.
